We were blown away by the incredible mountain views that wrap around the lake in every direction.

✅HELPFUL TIP: Arrive early as accessible parking is limited. We arrived at 10 a.m. and all accessible spots were already taken, so be prepared to park a bit farther.

Limone sul Garda was a delightful surprise, and I highly recommend adding it to your Northern Italy itinerary!
This charming town clings to the western shore of Lake Garda, framed by steep cliffs and sparkling blue water. Lemons and pink flowers decorate the buildings, making it one of the prettiest spots on the lake.
We arrived early and found free accessible parking near the town entrance. Even though it rained for part of our visit, we grabbed a front-row café table and sipped our Aperol Spritz while enjoying the lake views.
Limone isn’t the most wheelchair-friendly due to a few steep paths, but the lakefront promenade is flat, scenic, and smooth. The lemon terraces also make for gorgeous photos if you can manage some inclines.
✅HELPFUL TIP: Arrive early for the best parking and fewer crowds. Mornings are calm and magical before day-trippers arrive.

While it can get busy in summer, it remains a refreshing alternative to the more crowded nearby lakes.
Molveno offers a mix of adventure and relaxation, from scenic hikes and lake activities to spa treatments and relaxing pool days with mountain views.
We strolled the flat lakeside promenade and enjoyed lunch overlooking the lake. The Dolomites truly take your breath away and are a must visit!
The village is charming with alpine-style architecture, cozy cafés, and a gondola to the top with even more spectacular views.

San Lorenzo Dorsino is one of Northern Italy’s best hidden gems — I almost feel guilty sharing it! We discovered this peaceful mountain village while escaping the summer heat.
From the stunning scenery to the incredibly friendly locals, it completely surprised us! Just a few minutes from Molveno, it feels worlds away from the crowds.
Surrounded by jagged Dolomite peaks, San Lorenzo is the definition of slow travel — where life moves gently, meals are savored, and locals make you feel like family.
Even with limited mobility, I was able to fully enjoy morning coffees and evening wine on our balcony, taking in the beautiful views. We got to know our hosts and even enjoyed an incredible three-course homemade dinner.
Our 3 day stay left us completely recharged and inspired to keep exploring the Dolomites.

Val di Funes is home to one of Italy’s most photographed views — the Church of St. Maddalena framed perfectly by the Odle Mountains.
It’s an ideal escape for slow travelers or who wants to enjoy nature at a gentler pace, far from the crowds.
The villages of Santa Maddalena and San Pietro are especially charming, with cozy cafés, quiet paths, panoramic viewpoints, and plenty of fresh air.

Tarvisio was our base while exploring nearby spots, like Triglav National Park, Bovec, and Kranjska Gora in Slovenia — all within easy driving distance.
If you’re visiting these areas, we highly recommend this apartment!
The town is flat and walkable, with plenty of cafés and friendly locals. Despite its small size, it has great shopping, including a large Eurospar and a wheelchair-accessible indoor market selling Italian leather goods.
Just slow down, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the relaxed alpine vibes.

Tucked into a small cove on the Ligurian coast, Portofino is one of Northern Italy’s most iconic seaside towns.
Once a quiet fishing village, it’s now known for luxury yachts, pastel buildings, with a chic vibe. Despite its glamorous reputation, Portofino feels surprisingly compact and peaceful if you visit in early morning or later in the evening.
The waterfront promenade and main piazza are mostly flat and easy to navigate — perfect for a morning espresso with stunning views.
The walk from Santa Margherita Ligure is hilly and some side streets climb steeply. But, if you’re planning a trip with limited mobility, you can still enjoy the harbor without missing the town’s highlights.

The lesser-known seaside town of Muggia is one of Northern Italy’s hidden gems and one of our favorite stops on our two-week road trip!
Just south of Trieste near Slovenia, this tiny fishing village features Venetian architecture and a harbor full of fishing boats and lined with pastel buildings.
We wandered the old town’s flat, car-free streets before settling into a café for late-morning cappuccinos. Watching fishing boats come in and locals chat over wine and Aperol Spritz made us feel right at home.
With waterfront cafés, excellent seafood restaurants and plenty of gelato shops, it’s perfect for a leisurely afternoon.
Honestly… it’s impossible not to fall in love with Muggia’s slower pace!
