It is family-friendly with shallow water making it safe for kids. There are lifeguards on duty, water sport rentals and the Water Park Yolo is nearby.

With only the cliffs to provide natural shade, it’s a good idea to bring any additional items you might need for a day by the sea.

Plus, there are ample sunbeds and umbrellas just perfect for sunbathing.
✅HELPFUL TIP: Get there early! Kalogria Beach is popular and gets crowded in summer. Arrive early to get parking and a sunbathing spot.
There are plenty of convenient taverns nearby serving delicious Greek Mediterranean food, too. Kalogrias is the perfect spot for a day at the beach.

Stoupa Beach has shallow, gentle waves ideal for families with young children and swimmers of all levels.
This is one of the best beaches near Kalamata for lounging and sunbathing, thanks to its soft sand and surrounding olive trees.
While not as touristy, Stoupa Beach is still quite popular, especially with those staying in the nearby town. But that means you’ll have lots of nearby dining options to choose from!

A SEATRAC sea ramp makes it easy for wheelchair users to enjoy the water. A wooden beach track leads towards the sea ramp for convenient access.
There is wheelchair accessible parking, and an accessible shower.
However, at the time of publishing, it is unclear if there is accessible washroom. I will update as new information becomes available.
9. Voidokilia Beach

Voidokilia is one of the most beautiful beaches near Kalamata.
Surrounded by sand dunes, this crescent–shaped beach offers soft almost white sand and unspoiled beauty.
It’s the furthest from Kalamata, approximately 1 hour drive away. And there are no facilities or life guard, so make sure to plan ahead.
✅HELPFUL TIP: If you travel with fibromyalgia or a chronic illness, consider that when planning your beach day.
Gialova Lagoon, King Nestor’s Cave, and Old Navarino Fortress are also nearby if you like to hike and want to explore.

Analipsi Beach offers fine, pebbly sand, crystal water and is fully accessible for wheelchair users.
Known for its wind, it becomes a popular spot for windsurfing and kiting later in the day as the wind picks up.
I recommend visiting the beach in the morning when the water is calmer, if you want to sunbathe and swim.
The coastline is lined with coffee shops and restaurants, and there is a playground for children too.

Despite the full accessibility features, there is no lifeguard on duty or public restrooms, so plan accordingly.

Agios Andreas beach is long with a mix of sand and small pebbles and is lined with pine trees offering natural shade and a tranquil setting.

Tips for Visiting Kalamata Beaches
Best Times to Visit
Like the rest of Greece, the peak season for beaches in Kalamata is from July to August. You can expect hot temperatures and more crowds.
If you prefer a quieter experience, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons of May to June or September to October. The weather is still beautiful, and you’ll have more space on the beach to yourself.

Transportation Options
Thankfully, getting to Kalamata is easier than taking the ferry to Sifnos.
✈️AIRPLANE: Kalamata airport offers some international flights.
🚌BUS: The bus ride from Athens is cheap and takes 3 hours.
🚗RENT A CAR: Kalamata is an easy 2.5 hour drive from Athens.
Most beaches in Kalamata are easily reached by car, but some may require a short hike. This is something to consider if you travel with chronic pain, or mobility issues.
