1. Kamares Beach (Best for Convenience & Sandy Shore)

Ferries to Sifnos arrive in the port town of Kamares, with a beach just steps away from the town’s center. Despite its proximity to the port, the water is exceptionally clean and crystal clear!
Kamares’ soft, sandy beach is calm and shallow, making it great for families with children.
Sunbathers can relax in privacy on a rented sun lounger and umbrella or enjoy various watersport activities.
Or head to a taverna on the promenade and watch the boats coming in and out of the harbor with an ice-cold drink.
It is one of the longest beaches on Sifnos, making it a great base with plenty of shops, restaurants, and some of the best hotels in Sifnos.

2. Platis Gialos Beach (Best for Families & Resorts)

Platis Gialos is a popular beach town known for its soft, golden sand and shallow turquoise waters. The beach stretches the entire length of this sleepy town.
We chose Platis Gialos as our base for exploring the southern part of the island and are so happy we did!
Despite the town’s popularity, it doesn’t feel crowded and is surprisingly peaceful. It is one of the reasons we think Sifnos is worth visiting!
There are sun loungers and umbrellas for rent at a reasonable price, and watersport activities too.
Plenty of ceramic shops, restaurants, and accommodations are sprinkled along the shore. At the north end, you will find some great laid-back beach bars.
✅HELPFUL TIP: There is a marina at the end of the beach where you can join a boat tour of the island.

3. Vathi Beach (Best for Relaxation & Dining)

Set in a natural harbor, Vathi is one of the best beaches on Sifnos to add to your itinerary, with turquoise water, beautiful mountains, and a quaint Cycladic town.
The crystal waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling. There are boat rentals nearby as well.
You can rent sunbeds or find shade under the large trees along the golden sand. It’s a beautiful spot to enjoy a relaxed day at the beach.
Taxiarchis Chapel sits in the middle of the bay surrounded by seaside restaurants with tables planted right in the sand.
Make sure to check out Atsonios Ceramics for lovely clay plates, cups, or bowls to take home.
✅HELPFUL TIP: The road down to the beach parking lot is a little steep, something to consider if you decide to rent a car in Greece.

4. Apokofto Beach (Best Near Chrisopigi Monastery)

Apokofto Beach is famous for its proximity to the Chrisopigi Monastery, an iconic attraction perched on a nearby rocky jut.
Located in the southeast, this Sifnos beach is easily accessible with good parking options.
The water is clear with a mix of sand and small, white pebbles, making for excellent swimming and snorkeling. It is also sheltered from the wind which can be common on Sifnos.
There are plenty of shady trees, which is great because there are no umbrellas or sun loungers for rent here. But there are a couple of great tavernas that serve delicious seafood dishes.
Apokofto has a more intimate vibe with fewer tourists, which fits our travel style perfectly.

5. Chrisopigi Beach (Most Iconic Sifnos Beach)

Located in the south, this rocky jut out houses the famous whitewashed Chrisopigi Monastery and is not a traditional beach in Sifnos.
Steps lead down to the sea on both sides of the monastery. The rocks beneath the surface on the left side of the monastery provide a small perch for sunbathers.
Just like Foneas beach in Kalamata, the natural rock formations are ideal for diving and cliff jumping. The water is pristine and perfect for swimming, especially in the late morning or early afternoon.
The rocky seabed attracts diverse marine life too, so if you love to snorkel, this is the place to be.
There is parking and a few walking trails nearby.
✅HELPFUL TIP: Wear your water shoes if you head to this area, as the rocks can get slippery.

6. Faros Beach (Best for Village Atmosphere)

Faros is a picturesque fishing village located on the southern tip of Sifnos. It is a small beach with soft sand and a few pebbles and lush trees creating a tranquil setting.
Swimming and snorkeling are popular activities here. The clear, calm waters make it easy to spot sea creatures on the seabed, so bring your snorkel gear!
The water gets deep quickly, though, something to keep in mind if you have small children. Large trees on the shoreline provide shade for relaxing or playing in the sand.
There are a few tavernas where you can enjoy traditional Greek dishes and fresh seafood. The village also has a small harbor with colorful fishing boats and yachts.
Faros Beach is connected to two other small beaches — Fasolou & Glyfo.

7. Fassolou Beach (Quiet Cove Near Faros)

Just a few minutes walk from Faros is Fassolou Beach, a small, secluded beach with stunning scenery and a tranquil setting.
With its colorful turquoise waters, golden sand, and rolling hills, it’s the perfect spot for those seeking a more private and peaceful beach.
Fassolou is known for excellent snorkeling. And since this beach doesn’t see many tourists, you can enjoy a more relaxed snorkeling experience.
There are a few trees for shade, but you may want to bring an umbrella. It has one restaurant, a couple of guest houses, and parking directly behind the beach.
At the end of the bay sits Stavros Monastery, a beautiful, white-washed Cycladic church worth checking out.

8. Cheronissos Beach (Great for Tavernas & Sunset)

Cheronissos Beach is a quaint fishing village tucked away in a deep inlet surrounded by mountains and full of unspoiled beauty and Greek charm.
Excellent for escaping the crowds, this Sifnos beach is small and secluded, with large shady trees. It is common to bring an umbrella, as there are no sun loungers for rent here.
The calm, turquoise water is a great option for families with small children. There are a few restaurants, pottery shops, and a handful of small guesthouses.
Although not the most beautiful beach in Sifnos, it is easily accessible by car and worth a visit. The Church of Agios Georgios is nearby as well.
✅HELPFUL TIP: With no dedicated parking lot, you will have to park along the road. Arrive early to secure a spot.

9. Vroulidia Beach (Best Secluded Beach)

Located in the north of Sifnos, and only 12 minutes from Cheronissos Beach, Vroulidia Beach is a hidden gem surrounded by dramatic cliffs and beautiful scenery.
This small pebble beach has exceptionally clear water, making it perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
You will want to stay until sunset as the views are incredible!
Although this Sifnos beach is more secluded, because it is so small, it can get busy during peak season. With a limited number of sun loungers and umbrellas to rent, we recommend you arrive early to secure your spot for the day.
A small restaurant and fish taverna serve delicious Greek dishes.
✅HELPFUL TIP: This beach is difficult to reach by car. The dirt road is very steep and many people park up the hill and walk down to avoid it. Something to consider if you travel with chronic pain.

10. Seralia Beach (Best Near Kastro)
➡️ Strong waves and waterfront tavernas
📍Location: Seralia | 🍽️Restaurants: Yes |🛥️Port Distance: 8.5km
Seralia Beach is a small, rocky beach near the village of Kastro and is popular among locals and tourists for its bright, blue water and picturesque setting.
The beach itself is very rocky, surrounded by large boulders and cliffs. There are a couple of umbrellas but no sun loungers or trees for shade.
The sea is very rough with larger waves and is not ideal for weak swimmers or children.
Instead, Seralia Beach is best known for the two fish tavernas beside the sea. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy traditional Greek seafood while taking in the beautiful scenery.
There are some guesthouses and apartments for rent nearby, which is a great way to spend less money when traveling.
✅HELPFUL TIP: There is no direct parking here. You must park at the end of the road and walk down a stepped path to access the beach.

How to Get to Sifnos Beaches
While most beaches on Sifnos are easily reachable by car or public transportation, others may require a bit more effort to reach.
🚗Rental Car or Scooter
Renting a car or scooter is the easiest and most convenient way to get around Sifnos, especially if you’re planning on exploring multiple beaches during your visit.
If you are traveling Greece with mobility issues, then renting a car is a great option. You can even rent adapted vehicles if you need.
Most rental companies are located at the ferry port in Kamares, although a few hotels and guesthouses provide rentals as well. Prices may vary depending on the season.

✅HELPFUL TIP: Some beaches have narrow or gravel roads, so check your rental agreement for any driving restrictions on the vehicle.
🚌Public Bus
Sifnos has a reliable and well-connected bus system. Buses run frequently during peak season (June-September) and less often during low season (October-May).
Tickets can be purchased from kiosks in several towns or directly from the bus driver.
We found the bus efficient, comfortable, and an easy way to get around the island.

Yes, you can rent a bicycle, e-bike, or hike to most beaches on Sifnos.
Numerous trails connect different parts of the island and lead to some hidden gems like Vroulidia Beach.
We didn’t hike ourselves, as I travel with chronic pain and fatigue, but we saw many people exploring the island on foot and bike.
